Application Description
A traditional strategy game originating from West Africa
Also known as Awele, Ayo, or Oware, Awale is a two-player board game from the Mancala family. It shares similarities with East African games like Omweso, Bao, or Igisoro.
Awale is played on a board with eight holes per player and uses 64 seeds.
A player's territory is the row of holes closest to them.
The objective of the game is to capture all or most of your opponent's seeds to prevent them from making a move.
Other games in the same Mancala family include Ayo, Kisoro, and Omweso.
Mancala games are believed to have been invented in Ethiopia during the era of the Kingdom of Aksum.
