Hexanaut.io is an engaging IO game focused on claiming as much territory as possible. Be cautious not to cut your own line or get sliced by another player. Totems scattered across the map can be captured for valuable bonuses. How vast of a domain can you conquer? Demonstrate your mastery in this territorial conquest game.
HEXANAUT GAME INSTRUCTIONS
Use your mouse to navigate the map. Extend from your territory to draw a boundary and begin claiming new land. Upon returning to your original area, you complete the loop and claim all enclosed tiles.
However, venturing outside your borders puts you at risk. If another player intercepts your tail, they will cut you off, forcing you to restart with no territory.
Aim to capture 20% of the map to achieve Hexanaut status. Maintain this percentage for two minutes after reaching that milestone to win the game!
Note: If eliminated while an opponent holds Hexanaut status, you cannot re-enter the match.
CAPTURE TOTEMS
Five unique totems await capture in Hexanaut.io. Players should seize them whenever safely possible, as each offers distinct advantages crucial for victory and achieving Hexanaut rank.
SPREADING TOTEM
The Spreading Totem is the only one that directly grants hexes. Once captured, it emits lasers that sequentially claim tiles. This feature is particularly advantageous in the early game when manual expansion is challenging.
SPEED TOTEM
The SPEED TOTEM boosts your movement speed by 5%. While this increase seems minor, stacking two or three of them significantly enhances mobility. Prioritize collecting these totems for a substantial gameplay advantage.
TELEPORTING GATE
These gates provide instant point-to-point travel across the map. They are invaluable for covering large distances quickly. Instead of traversing your entire domain, teleport directly to distant areas to save time or ambush enemies attacking from afar. Teleportation allows you to surprise opponents and cut off their tails effectively.
SLOWING TOTEM
The SLOWING TOTEM creates a zone that drastically reduces the speed of any opposing player who enters it. Resembling a spider web, this area immobilizes others while leaving you free to move. Exploit this advantage by eliminating players trapped in the slow zone. Conversely, avoid enemy slowing totems when possible, as challenging an opponent with such a significant buff is often futile.
SPY DISH
The SPY DISH reveals the locations of all other players' territories on your map. This intelligence becomes critical once you have expanded significantly, as it highlights which hexes are under attack and require defense against rival expansion efforts.
IS HEXANAUT A MULTIPLAYER GAME?
Yes and no. Hexanaut.io is classified as an IO game, featuring a mix of real players and AI bots on shared servers. Due to the massive lobby sizes, the server populates matches with bots that mimic human behavior. This ensures rapid matchmaking without requiring hundreds of concurrent users in every session.
