SoMoGa Inc. has unveiled a revitalized edition of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG, originally released in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD, has been resurrected with stunning updated visuals, a streamlined user interface, and controller compatibility. Initially developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs, SoMoGa previously re-released the game on iOS in 2008.
This revamped version boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen formidable bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. Notable enhancements include adjustable difficulty settings, an automatic save function, and Bluetooth controller support. Players can acquire new equipment, learn powerful spells as their characters level up, and even utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The narrative unfolds in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war. A catastrophic machine, malfunctioning and hellbent on destruction, crashes onto the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay. The player embarks on a thrilling quest to rescue their abducted wife, a mission that may ultimately determine the fate of the entire world. This adventure begins on their wedding day, following the bride's abduction, thrusting the player into a heroic journey against devastating war machines.
Vay's gripping storyline seamlessly blends classic JRPG elements with modern enhancements. Character progression via experience and gold from random encounters remains central. The game features almost ten minutes of captivating animated cutscenes, available in both English and Japanese audio.
