Avowed offers five distinct Backgrounds: Arcane Scholar, Court Augur, Noble Scion, Vanguard Scout, and War Hero. Each provides unique dialogue options and a starting weapon, although all equipment and abilities remain accessible regardless of choice.

Arcane Scholar: Hailing from Bragganhyl Academy, this scholar's treatise on soul lineages angered a local lord, leading to arrest. The Emperor, however, recognized their potential and recruited them for the imperial archives. Expect dialogue reflecting knowledge of the occult, law, history, and poetry.
