*Avowed* expands on the rich Fantasy world of Eora, first introduced in the *Pillars of Eternity* series of isometric RPGs. While the game features a variety of races within the Kith, the character creator offers a more limited selection. Here's a comprehensive look at the playable races in *Avowed*.
Humans (Known In-Universe as Folk)
Humans, referred to as Folk in *Avowed*, are the most common race both in the game and within the character creator. As part of the broader Kith group, which includes various sentient and civilized species, humans are central to the game's narrative and player experience.
The character customization for humans in *Avowed* is designed to cater to a wide audience. Players have access to numerous presets and detailed customization tools. These include a variety of facial presets, a skin tone slider, and diverse hair textures, ensuring players can create a character that closely represents them.
Elves
Elves are another race available for selection in *Avowed*. They closely resemble humans but are distinguished by slightly different facial structures and, of course, their iconic long, pointy ears.
Godlikes
A third race option in *Avowed* is the Godlikes. Although all Envoys in the story are Godlike, players can opt to display these unique features or not. Godlikes come with distinctive hair and facial features, ranging from subtle to surreal. At the launch of *Avowed*, players can choose from 14 Godlike facial features and four Godlike hair options, which are available across all character races and body types.
What Gender Options are Available in the Avowed Character Creator? Answered
In *Avowed*, players can select from four Body Types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Additionally, there are two voice options for each gender. Players can also choose their character's identifier, which determines the pronouns used for them, with options including he, she, and they.
Several Races Present in Avowed Are Not Playable
While *Avowed* features a diverse array of Kith races among NPCs, not all are available for player customization. Races such as Dwarves, semiaquatic Aumaua, and the half-sized, hairy Orlans, which appear in the Living Lands, cannot be selected in the character creator. However, Obsidian Entertainment might consider adding more race options in future updates or DLCs for *Avowed*.
