Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Reportedly Set to Skip Nintendo Switch 2 at Launch, Release Date and Price Have Leaked

by Lillian Aug 06,2026

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 appears poised to miss its launch window on Nintendo Switch 2, even though parent company Microsoft has a “binding 10-year legal agreement” ensuring the franchise reaches Nintendo platforms.

In 2023, as part of its strategy to secure regulatory approval for the Activision Blizzard acquisition, Microsoft pledged to release upcoming Call of Duty titles on Nintendo systems with full feature and content parity, launching simultaneously with Xbox releases.

According to the contract terms, Nintendo players will be able to “experience Call of Duty just as Xbox and PlayStation gamers enjoy Call of Duty,” Microsoft stated at the time. The series has been absent from Nintendo consoles since Call of Duty: Ghosts launched on Wii U in 2013.

However, trusted leaker billbil-kun (via Dealabs) reports that Black Ops 7 is scheduled for release on November 14, 2025, across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. While the title may eventually arrive on Switch 2, it will not launch alongside Xbox at present.

In June following the announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, both Activision and Nintendo were reportedly collaborating to bring the long-running first-person shooter franchise to Switch. In a statement provided to IGN, Activision confirmed that negotiations are ongoing: “We’re committed to getting the franchise on Switch. Both teams are working on it. Will share details when ready.”

Meanwhile, billbil-kun noted that Xbox versions of the game will include physical disc releases, marking a shift from recent Microsoft titles.

Regarding pricing, Black Ops 7 is reportedly priced at €79.99, suggesting a $69.99 price point in the U.S. In July, Microsoft announced it would not be selling Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds 2—or any of its holiday releases—for $80, reversing earlier plans to raise video game prices beyond $70. Expectations were that Black Ops 7 would adhere to the standard $70 price tag, and billbil-kun’s report confirms this will indeed be the case.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to debut live on August 19 during Opening Night Live at gamescom. More details are expected then.
