Cyberpunk 2077's 2.3 Patch Detailed, Skipping Switch 2

by Emily Nov 05,2025

CD Projekt Red has officially announced that the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 launches on July 17 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, but will not be available for the Nintendo Switch 2 at this time.

During a recent livestream, developers explained that additional time is needed to finalize the Switch 2 version of patch 2.3. While a specific release date for that platform was not shared, the team confirmed it will arrive "shortly after" the initial launch.

Paweł Sasko, Associate Game Director for Cyberpunk 2077, detailed that this update centers on vehicle enhancements and personalization. Adrien Jouannet, Lead Designer at support studio Virtuos, verified the addition of three new cars and the game's first customizable motorcycle. Each vehicle is unlocked by completing a specific quest. Sasko noted that triggering these quests will feel intuitive, though they will not count toward 100% completion for achievement hunters.

Another major addition is the new AutoDrive feature, allowing for hands-free driving. In the game's universe, this is enabled via a universal software update to all vehicles. Players can set a destination marker and let the car navigate there autonomously. It's important to note that AutoDrive only functions on designated roads and adheres to traffic regulations, meaning it will stop for red lights.

If your vehicle comes under attack, the AutoDrive system will deactivate automatically, allowing you to engage in combat. Sasko mentioned the team has optimized this feature to minimize the likelihood of encounters, suggesting players would need to deliberately seek out conflict to trigger a fight.

The update also introduces a wandering mode, where your vehicle will cruise endlessly during free roam, perfect for sightseeing. For added convenience, you can hire the Delamain AI taxi service for AutoDrive, letting the AI chauffeur you around Night City.

This feature, combined with the new cinematic camera available while driving, offers a far more immersive and filmic way to experience the cityscape. Sasko revealed this addition was inspired by numerous fan videos showcasing long, scenic drives through Night City. You can also access Photo Mode while AutoDrive is active.

Speaking of Photo Mode, version 2.3 brings a wealth of new options. You can now adjust the time of day and weather conditions for your scenes. The update also adds 27 new NPC character models, alongside new outfits and more natural poses for main characters. CD Projekt Red also teased a forthcoming Photo Mode contest for the community.

On the technical front, PC players will benefit from the inclusion of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1 (FSR 3.1) starting with tomorrow's update. While FSR 4 support is planned for Cyberpunk 2077, Sasko clarified it will be released with a future AMD driver. HDR10+ gaming is now fully supported, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is coming to the console versions.

Lastly, the developers confirmed the Mac version of Cyberpunk 2077, previously announced, will launch simultaneously with Update 2.3 on July 17.

Is this the final update for Cyberpunk 2077? While CD Projekt Red has previously indicated that recent patches marked the conclusion of major support for the nearly five-year-old game, the door may still be open for future content. During the stream, Sasko remained non-committal. Could the game receive one last major send-off this December with a new update celebrating its fifth anniversary? Only time will tell.
