Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives later this month, but for eager fans, Hideo Kojima presented a fresh look during today's Summer Game Fest with a new gameplay clip.
The footage introduces two new faces: Lucy (portrayed by Alissa Jung) and Neil (played by Luca Marinelli). Neil works as a porter, similar to our protagonist Sam Porter Bridges. The pair share a tense, emotional moment triggered by matching marks on their hands—Neil appears to remember Lucy from somewhere in his past, while Lucy becomes visibly distressed. Kojima shared that Neil's role will carry a similar performance weight and emotional depth as Mads Mikkelsen’s character did in the previous game.
Death Stranding 2 continues Hideo Kojima's open-world delivery adventure, following Fragile and Sam Bridges many years after the original story.
Back in September, Kojima Productions released a series of gameplay teasers for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, revealing its surreal photo mode, dancing puppet-like figures, a character brought to life by Mad Max director George Miller, and other distinct Kojima-style surprises.
We also glimpsed a shirtless Norman Reedus stepping through dark sludge to encounter a man named Tarman (also played by Miller) and his airborne feline companion, alongside an unnerving talking puppet. The cast also includes Tomorrow (Elle Fanning) and Rainy (Shioli Kutsuna). The game launches June 26, 2025, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
