Hideo Kojima graced the stage at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas tonight, unveiling an expansive new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach while confirming its official release date.
Death Stranding 2 arrives exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. Players opting for the Digital Deluxe or Collector's Editions gain 48-hour early access beginning June 24.
The breathtaking 10-minute trailer showcases cinematic sequences, gameplay snippets, and most intriguingly, introduces a character bearing striking resemblance to Snake from Kojima's legendary Metal Gear series.
The character Neil, portrayed by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, sports Snake's iconic bandana while commanding unsettling paramilitary forces. Seen wielding assault rifles, Neil's enigmatic presence dominates several action-packed sequences.

The trailer deepens its Metal Gear legacy with the introduction of Magellan Man - a tar-coated biomechanical hybrid fused with the DHV Magellan, reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex (a 15-inch statue included in the Collector's Edition). This pilotable Jaeger-style mech engages colossal tar-based foes in spectacular battles.

The standard edition retails at $69.99, with Collector's and Digital Deluxe editions priced at $229.99 and $79.99 respectively. Pre-orders commence March 17.
Continuing Death Stranding's 2019 narrative under the haunting question "Should We Have Connected?", the sequel's official synopsis reads:
Embark on Sam's profound odyssey beyond the UCA's borders. Accompanied by allies, he confronts existential threats through supernatural adversaries and philosophical quandaries about human connection. Visionary creator Hideo Kojima redefines interactive storytelling yet again.
