Marvel Contest of Champions is set to electrify April with a lineup of thrilling additions, including the much-anticipated Spider-Woman. Alongside her, fans can expect the introduction of another champion with a starkly different persona.
Here’s the Backstory of Spider-Woman in the World of Marvel Contest of Champions
Spider-Woman, known as Jessica Drew, faced a challenging childhood when she was exposed to uranium, causing severe illness. Her father, a brilliant geneticist, attempted a daring experiment by injecting her with a concoction of spider DNA. After a prolonged recovery, Jessica not only overcame the experiment's initial setbacks but also emerged with extraordinary spider powers, ultimately becoming the iconic Spider-Woman. Players can add this new champion to their roster starting April 17th.
However, before Spider-Woman makes her entrance, another formidable champion will step into the spotlight on April 9th. Lumatrix, one of the most lethal assassins engineered by the Founders, arrives with the ability to infiltrate and eliminate targets using dazzling light-based powers.
What Else Is New?
In terms of narrative developments, Act 9 Chapter 2, dubbed "Inquisition," unfolds with Carina severely injured after encountering Ouroborus' forces. Meanwhile, Doctor Doom aligns with the Fantastic Four as the corruption from Chronoserpent spreads relentlessly. A new villain, Lotan, also emerges to challenge the champions.
A new Event Quest, "Spy Games," launches on April 9th and runs until May 7th. Black Widow investigates the enigmatic Eidols, enlisting Spider-Woman's help to unravel the mystery.
Dark Phoenix returns in the Side Quest with "Dark Bounties," setting bounties on various champions. Players must track them down to claim their rewards.
The "Incursions: Dark Phoenix Saga Sector" also makes a comeback. Gather your most powerful Saga champions to battle through for Dark Plumes, Light Essence, Tier 7 Basic Fragments, and 7-Star Class Signature Stones.
