Fortnite reverses its controversial decision about one of the skins

The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus. This joyous occasion, however, was initially marred by controversy.

The original release of the Master Chief skin included a special Matte Black style, exclusively awarded to players on Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as perpetually obtainable. The abrupt announcement of its removal, therefore, caused significant backlash from the community.

Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit over what they perceived as a breach of advertising promises. However, Epic Games swiftly reversed their decision within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X console.

This reversal appears to be the most prudent course of action, particularly given the festive holiday season. Spoiling the celebratory mood with such a contentious issue would have been ill-advised.
