New Game Announced by Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Creators

The renowned Spanish studio MercurySteam, celebrated for their work on titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has just announced their latest project, an action-RPG named Blades of Fire. Crafted in partnership with publisher 505 Games, this new game invites players into an enthralling dark fantasy realm teeming with enigmatic races and daunting creatures.

The debut trailer for Blades of Fire offers a glimpse into its fast-paced hack-and-slash combat, distinctive visual flair, and a deeply atmospheric setting. Fans of MercurySteam's earlier works will notice gameplay and artistic parallels to Lords of Shadow, while the game's environment and enemy designs echo the style seen in Darksiders. A standout feature in the trailer is a mechanical bird, which appears to serve as the protagonist's means of navigating the expansive game world.

Blades of Fire is being built on MercurySteam's own Mercury Engine. This choice may enable the game to sidestep common optimization hurdles faced by many contemporary titles developed on Unreal Engine 5.

Mark your calendars for the release of Blades of Fire on May 22, 2025. The game will be available on the latest generation consoles, including the PS5 and Xbox Series, as well as on PC through the Epic Games Store (EGS).
