In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the side quest "Bad Blood" offers an engaging way to delve deeper into the game's rich character dynamics and narrative. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to start and complete this intriguing quest.
How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Once you gain the freedom to explore the expansive world of *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, you'll need to advance through the quest that involves finding Mutt. As part of this quest, you'll visit a clearing near Bozhena's hut, where Henry will suggest checking if Bozhena has seen anything. Approach her hut and inquire about Mutt, and she'll reveal that her daughter Pavlena is missing. By agreeing to assist her, the "Bad Blood" quest will be added to your journal.
Gather Information
Your initial task is to head to Troskowitz and converse with Bailiff Thrush, followed by a discussion with Innkeeper Betty at the local tavern. These conversations will shed light on the history of Bozhena and Pavlena, explaining their ostracism from the village. Next, proceed to the designated area to speak with the woodcutters, particularly Woodcutter Dushko, who will guide you to Roman's house. Remember to save your game before attempting to lockpick the door to Roman's house.
Inside, search for Pavlena's basket and then return to Dushko for further details. He will direct you to a clearing near Roman's house, a spot favored by the couple.
Search the Scene
From Roman's house, follow the objective marker downhill towards a stream, then veer left at two large boulders to discover the site. You'll find a trail of blood to follow, leading you to Roman's lifeless body. Continue upward and engage with Hogherd Hugo, then head back to the Troskowitz farm to speak with Hired Hand Straw.
A successful dialogue check with Straw will reveal insights into Jakesh's involvement and the true events concerning Roman and Pavlena. You can also consult Thrush about how to handle Straw. After these discussions, proceed to the rocks south of Zhelejov to further your investigation.
Confront Ota
Navigate the objective area until you find a path behind a large boulder. Ascend the ladder to encounter Ota and Pavlena. With sufficient Charisma, you can persuade Ota to release Pavlena by choosing the right dialogue options:
- "What's your name?"
- "Let her go and I'll let you go."
- "I'll put in a good word for you with His Lordship."
Once Pavlena is freed, she will seize the sword and dispatch Ota. After speaking with Pavlena, accompany her back to Bozhena, who will then request that you deal with Jakesh.
Kill Jakesh or Make Peace
For the final step, you face a choice: eliminate Jakesh or attempt to broker peace between him and Bozhena. Locate Jakesh at his child's grave. You can either confront him lethally or opt for dialogue, which may lead to a peaceful resolution. Alternatively, the quest can be concluded by targeting Bozhena instead.
In my playthrough, choosing to kill Jakesh and reporting back to Bozhena resulted in a reward.
Should You Kill Jakesh?
Opting to kill Jakesh will negatively impact your reputation in Troskowitz, yet it will boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. This decision also unlocks a new dialogue option with Pavlena and grants you a necklace, a memento from Roman.
Conversely, sparing Jakesh and facilitating a reconciliation earns you 100 groschen from him. Upon returning to Bozhena, you can choose to keep this sum or share it, allowing Bozhena and Pavlena to reintegrate into the community.
