Team Ninja has rolled out an extensive update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, now at version 1.0.7.0. This update introduces a host of new features and improvements, including New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more, all aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. The patch is now accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
New Game Plus allows players to embark on a fresh journey at any previously conquered difficulty level, retaining their arsenal of weapons and Ninpo from the prior run. However, these items will reset to Level 1 at the start of the new game. It's worth noting that players cannot use New Game Plus to directly access a higher difficulty level.
In response to player feedback, the update also introduces the option to conceal the projectile weapon on the player's back. This can be toggled in the Options menu under Game Settings, offering a cleaner look during gameplay.
On the balance front, Team Ninja has tweaked enemy health and numbers across several chapters. Specifically, the Hit Points of adversaries in Chapter 8 and Chapter 11 have been reduced, while more enemies have been added to Chapter 13 and Chapter 14. Additionally, the damage output of certain attacks by Ayane has been increased.
The patch also addresses numerous bugs, including control issues at high frame rates on powerful PCs, non-responsive controller vibrations, and game-breaking glitches in certain chapters. These fixes ensure a smoother and more stable experience for all players.
Ninja Gaiden Black 2, initially released during the January Xbox Developer Direct, is an enhanced iteration of the classic action game, rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5. This new version boasts improved graphics, additional playable characters, and enhanced battle support features.
In our review, IGN awarded Ninja Gaiden 2 Black an 8/10, praising its visual upgrades and overall refinement over the Sigma 2 release, despite some minor drawbacks in enemy design. It remains a highly recommended action game for fans and newcomers alike.
