Nintendo Switch 2 Rumored to Get Gotham Knights

by Carter Jan 18,2025

Gotham Knights on Nintendo Switch 2?A game developer's resume suggests Gotham Knights could be a third-party title for the Nintendo Switch 2. Let's dive into the details!

Gotham Knights – A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Release?

Resume Hints at a Switch 2 Port

Gotham Knights – Switch 2 Possibility? On January 5th, 2025, YouTuber Doctre81 reported that Gotham Knights might launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. This claim stems from a game developer's resume, showcasing past work on the title for two unannounced platforms.

The developer, employed by QLOC from 2018 to 2023, listed projects like Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. Crucially, the resume also included Gotham Knights, earmarked for two unreleased consoles.

One platform could be the original Nintendo Switch, given a prior ESRB rating. However, the game's performance issues on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S might have hindered a Switch port. The listing of a second unreleased platform strongly suggests the Nintendo Switch 2.

Remember, this is based on unconfirmed information. Neither Warner Bros. Games nor Nintendo have made any official announcements.

Past ESRB Rating and Speculation

Gotham Knights – Nintendo Switch SpeculationReleased in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights reportedly received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch. This fueled speculation of a Nintendo Direct announcement.

However, the game never materialized on the original Switch, and the ESRB rating was subsequently removed. This past rating, coupled with the recent YouTube report, reignites the possibility of a Switch 2 release.

Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility and Official Announcements

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa tweeted on May 7th, 2024, promising further details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year," ending in March 2025. The announcement is imminent.

A later tweet confirmed the Switch 2's backwards compatibility with the original Switch, supporting "Nintendo Switch software" and "Nintendo Switch Online." The use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.
