Retro Action: Battletoads, Dodgeball, and More!
Prepare for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo is adding four SNES gems from the early 90s to its Switch Online service. This September update delivers beat 'em up action, thrilling races, challenging puzzles, and even some dodgeball mayhem.
First up, the legendary crossover: Battletoads/Double Dragon. Team up with the Battletoads and the Double Dragon brothers to defeat the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Choose from five playable characters, including Billy and Jimmy Lee, and the amphibian trio Zitz, Pimple, and Rash.
Originally an NES title (June 1993), later ported to SNES (December 1993), this marks a long-awaited return for Battletoads/Double Dragon.
Next, get ready for some dodgeball action in Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (known as Super Dodgeball in the West). Featuring Kunio-kun from the River City series, compete against rival teams in various arenas, from indoor stadiums to outdoor beaches. Each location holds unique challenges.
Originally released for the Super Famicom in August 1993.
Puzzle fans will enjoy Cosmo Gang the Puzzle. Similar to Tetris and Puyo Puyo, strategically clear lines of containers and Cosmos to score points. Choose from 1P Mode (solo), VS Mode (head-to-head), or 100 Stage Mode for a serious challenge. Match containers horizontally and use blue orbs to remove Cosmos.
Initially released in arcades (1992), then ported to Super Famicom (1993), Cosmo Gang the Puzzle has seen re-releases on various platforms, including Wii, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
