Nintendo's interactive alarm clock, Alarmo, is gearing up for a broader release in March 2025, as announced via the company's official Twitter (X) account. A significant update is that the requirement for a Nintendo Online membership to purchase Alarmo will be removed, making it available to everyone. The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo is priced at $99.99 USD.

While fans are thrilled about the expanded release of Alarmo, the buzz around Nintendo's potential announcement of the Switch 2 continues to grow. However, Nintendo has remained silent on any developments regarding its next console.

Nintendo Alarmo Sold Out A Day After its Announcement

The demand for Alarmo was evident just one day after its announcement on October 9, 2024. In Japan, the overwhelming response led Nintendo to suspend sales on the My Nintendo Store and switch to a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Nintendo issued a statement:

"We have received a large number of orders for the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo, which was released on October 9th, so we are currently suspending sales of the product on the My Nintendo Store. In response to this, we are currently preparing to change the sales method at My Nintendo Store to a lottery sale for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, so please wait for a while. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to our customers. Furthermore, we will continue to produce the products in order to deliver them to as many customers as possible."

In New York City, Alarmo sold out on the same day, with the store promising to notify customers once more stock becomes available.

Nintendo Alarmo Features

Launched in 2024, Alarmo offers a unique wake-up experience with sound effects from beloved Nintendo games including Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, and more. Users can select from 42 different scenes, with Nintendo promising to add more scenes, such as those from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, through free updates.

When you set an alarm, a character from the selected game appears on Alarmo's screen. As the alarm sounds, the character wakes up and plays a gentle sound. After a few seconds, a visitor arrives, and you can wave your hand or move your body to quiet the clock. If you linger in bed too long, a more "persuasive" visitor appears, and the sound intensifies. The alarm stops only when you get up, thanks to the device's motion sensor, eliminating the need to physically touch Alarmo.

Beyond its primary function, Alarmo enhances your environment with an hourly chime and sleep sounds themed to your chosen scene. It also tracks your sleep patterns, monitoring the time you spend in bed and your movements during sleep.

For those sharing a bed with others or pets, Nintendo recommends using Alarmo in Button Mode. Initially, purchasing Alarmo required a Nintendo Online membership, but this will no longer be necessary once the expanded release rolls out in March 2025.
