"Oblivion Remastered Keeps Iconic Line Flub"

by Isaac May 13,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings new life to one of Bethesda's most cherished titles, enhancing it with updated visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, and more. Despite these modernizations, the team at Virtuos has preserved one of the original game's most memorable moments.

Veteran fans of The Elder Scrolls series are likely familiar with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, Tandilwe's voice lines became infamous for a particular blooper. This flub, believed to be a mistake by actress Linda Kenyon, captured the hearts of many players.

As players delved into the newly revitalized world of Cyrodiil, many were eager to assess the fidelity of this ground-up remaster. While numerous environments, character models, and items have been beautifully updated, fans have been delighted to find that many of the quirks that defined the original 2006 release of Oblivion remain. Tandilwe’s well-known blooper, complete with its lack of subtitles, has returned to the joy of many fans.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon, upon learning about the infamous Oblivion blooper, humorously claimed, "It wasn't my fault!"

As thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, discussions continue about whether this Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake or a remaster. However, many are simply pleased to see that much of the original game's charm and imperfections have been preserved. This dedication to maintaining the original feel was a priority for both Bethesda and Virtuos, and it appears to be well-received by both new and returning players.
