Orna, the fantasy RPG and GPS MMO by Northern Forge Studios, is launching Terra's Legacy, a unique in-game event tackling real-world environmental pollution. From September 9th to 19th, players will battle pollution-themed enemies and contribute to real-world cleanup efforts.
Combating Pollution, In-Game and Out
Terra's Legacy merges virtual gameplay with real-world environmental action. Players will identify polluted or littered locations in their surroundings and report them through the Orna app. Northern Forge will then transform these locations into in-game "Gloomsites."
These Gloomsites are populated by the Murk, representing pollution. Defeating the Murk raises awareness of environmental issues. Players can then plant virtual trees and grow Gaia apples in these areas, using the apples to enhance their characters. Other players can also harvest these apples, fostering collaboration and shared rewards. The more players participate, the greater the impact, both in-game and in the real world.
Orna's participation in Terra's Legacy is part of the Green Game Jam 2024, an annual event uniting game developers to promote environmental awareness.
