Palworld Dating Sim Confirmed: No April Fools' Prank, Says Developer

by Alexander Apr 12,2025

Developer Pocketpair has exciting news for fans of their massively popular monster-catching game, Palworld. They've announced a new addition to their universe titled Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim that promises to bring a touch of romance to the franchise. Announced on March 31, 2025, this isn't an April Fools' Day prank, despite the timing raising some eyebrows among fans who are wary of the flood of fake game announcements that typically accompany the start of April.

Pocketpair is keen to dispel any doubts: Palworld! More Than Just Pals is a legitimate project. The concept originated from an April Fools' Day stunt in 2024, where the team jokingly announced the game. Now, it's becoming a reality and is slated for release on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.

This dating sim takes players to Palagos Private Academy, where they enroll as a transfer student. Here, players can befriend and potentially fall in love with a diverse cast of student Pals, including characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, all familiar names from the Palworld universe. The game's official description from Pocketpair teases a rich school life filled with friendship and romance, with players having the freedom to choose whether to maintain friendships, pursue romantic relationships, or take a more... unconventional approach with their Pals.

To reassure fans, Bucky from the Palworld team tweeted, "This doesn't concern April Fools :)" on March 31, 2025, emphasizing the game's legitimacy.

As Palworld itself celebrated its one-year anniversary in January 2025, it continues to evolve with new updates, including crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, and a photo mode, keeping fans engaged while they await Palworld! More Than Just Pals. Additionally, there's a glimmer of hope for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld, and fans are hopeful that the dating sim might also make its way to the console in the future.
