The headline feature is Super Mega Raids, a new format focused on larger groups and enhanced coordination. Unlike standard Mega Raids, these encounters require Trainers to break shields collaboratively within tight timeframes, with Mega-Evolved Pokémon automatically activating at critical moments.
Mega Victreebel and Mega Malamar are leading this debut during the Kalos celebrations. The progression system now includes Super Max, a fourth Mega Level that offers even greater bonuses. Advancing beyond previous caps no longer relies solely on repeated evolutions; you must also invest Mega Energy directly to push certain Pokémon further.
Given the recent resurgence of Mega Evolution, highlighted by themes in the Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion, this update introduces Link Charges. This new resource is essential for entering both standard and Super Mega Raids.
You will earn Link Charges through weekly challenges, Gifts, and community meetups, aligning with the social focus on in-person events in Tainan and Los Angeles before the global finale concludes at the end of February. A web-based map will also be available to help you track nearby battles and organize group sessions.
