During IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, Ratatan Works unveiled an exciting gameplay trailer for Ratatan. The trailer offers a thrilling glimpse into the game's mechanics, featuring a battle against a colossal boss crab. This sneak peek highlights Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm roguelike action, seamlessly integrating rhythm game elements with side-scrolling action.

One of the standout features is the online co-op mode, which supports up to 4 players. This cooperative gameplay allows players to control up to 100 characters in epic melee battles, promising a dynamic and engaging experience.

Ratatan is being crafted by the visionary team behind Patapon, including creator Hiroyuki Kotani and original musician Kemmei Adachi. The game's Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, has successfully met its console launch stretch goal, ensuring its availability on various gaming platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

Ratatan Gameplay Trailer Reveals 4 Person Online Co-Op

According to a recent update on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan is set to launch its closed beta on February 27, 2025. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared insights into the game's progress and upcoming milestones.

The game has now surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. However, it will not be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the team is focusing on perfecting the closed beta experience. The developers are committed to delivering an enhanced demo for the Steam Next Festival in June.

Sakajiri outlined what players can expect from the closed beta. The initial build will include gameplay up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 being added progressively over the month-long test period. Details regarding the distribution of codes, start date, and time will be shared via Discord and X once finalized.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, the anticipation continues to build as more details emerge.
