Expert Review by Jaron Schneider:

"The Sony X93L isn’t cheap, but it largely earns its price through very good image quality powered by top-tier processing that results in a fantastic gaming experience."

Launched in March 2023, the Sony Bravia XR X93L was positioned as the second-highest tier non-OLED TV in Sony’s lineup at the time, just below the 85" X95L model which was only available in select markets. The X93L features advanced Mini-LED backlighting technology, delivering excellent performance with HDR content. Unlike traditional LED panels, Mini-LED uses smaller and more numerous LEDs that can be controlled independently, allowing for improved contrast, deeper blacks, and more precise brightness adjustments across the screen.

This makes the X93L especially well-suited for watching high dynamic range movies and playing games with rich visual detail. It also doubles as a top-tier gaming display thanks to its HDMI 2.1 support. The TV includes four HDMI ports, two of which are HDMI 2.1-certified, enabling 4K resolution at up to 120Hz refresh rate—ideal for next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

While the upcoming Switch 2 will cap out at 60fps in 4K when docked, the X93L still provides a smooth and responsive experience for all your favorite games.

Sony's use of the Google TV interface ensures a clean, user-friendly smart TV experience. Android users will especially appreciate the seamless integration, including the ability to use their smartphones as a remote control.
