Smite 2 Free-to-Play Launch Date Announced Alongside New Character

Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: January 14, 2025

Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, initially revealed a decade after its predecessor's release.

This open beta will introduce players to a significantly enhanced Smite experience. Expect a roster expansion, including the arrival of Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, debuting as a Magical Assassin and Jungler with unique wall-running and trapping abilities. Returning favorites from the original Smite, such as Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, will also be present, albeit with updated skill sets. The God roster will eventually reach nearly 50 by the end of January 2025.

New Game Modes and Features:

The open beta will feature exciting new additions:

  • Joust: A 3v3 mode set in an Arthurian-themed arena, incorporating teleporters and stealth grass for strategic gameplay.
  • Duel: A 1v1 mode utilizing the same map as Joust.
  • Aspects: A groundbreaking feature allowing players to sacrifice a God's ability for a powerful alternative. For example, Athena can forgo her ally-shielding teleport for a foe-weakening one. Twenty Gods will initially have Aspects, with more to come.

Quality-of-life improvements are also slated for release, including role guides, improved in-game messaging, PC text chat, enhanced item stores, and detailed death recaps.

Competitive Scene:

The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19, showcasing the competitive potential of this new MOBA.

Platforms:

Smite 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Prepare for an exciting new chapter in the Smite universe! The January 14th open beta is your chance to experience the evolution of this iconic MOBA.
