Switch 2 Zelda Ports Will Let Players Repair Equipment With the Zelda Notes App, If They're Lucky

by Dylan Apr 20,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 versions of *The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom* are set to receive some exciting upgrades, including a feature that allows players to repair equipment. This was highlighted in a recent Nintendo Treehouse Live stream, as noted by YouTuber Zeltik, who discovered a Daily Bonus feature within the Zelda Notes app. This mobile companion app, designed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 versions of these games, offers players the chance to roll for various in-game bonuses, such as meal effects, health and stamina recovery, and crucially, Equipment Repairs.

Both *The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom* incorporate a durability system, where weapons, shields, and other items degrade and eventually break after extended use. This mechanic has sparked considerable debate among fans, making the introduction of a repair feature particularly appealing. However, there is a catch: the Daily Bonus relies on a roulette wheel, meaning the Equipment Repair bonus isn't guaranteed every day. Additionally, players must wait for a daily timer to reset before they can spin again, limiting its potential to revolutionize gameplay, though it can still be a lifesaver in critical moments.

The Zelda Notes app is packed with other intriguing features, including achievements for both games and special audio memories that enrich the lore and background of Hyrule. These enhancements promise to deepen the open-world Zelda experience, especially for players frustrated with the weapon durability system. Alongside these new features, the Nintendo Switch 2 will also bring performance improvements to these beloved titles.
