Mastering Rune Slayer: Essential Tips for New Players

After a long wait and two delayed launches, Rune Slayer is finally here, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. This guide provides essential tips to ease your journey.

These are some early game tips that would have made our experience much smoother.

Avoid Unprovoked Player Attacks

Initially, the full-loot PvP aspect caused concern. However, death doesn't result in item loss (even when killed by other players). You simply respawn and continue.

The catch? Attacking players incurs a bounty. More kills mean a larger bounty, leading to increased item drops upon your death. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-imposed through aggressive player-killing.

Therefore, avoid attacking players unless strategically necessary or backed by a group.

Craft Bags Immediately

Both bank and inventory space are severely limited. While 50 slots seem ample, they fill rapidly. Fortunately, crafting bags expands capacity. The initial Cotton Bag provides 10 extra slots.

Source Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (beware of tougher mobs in the south). Craft these bags as soon as possible.

Pets Don't Perish

Contrary to belief, pets don't die permanently. Upon reaching zero health, they become unavailable for 5 minutes. Check the cooldown timer (hold T) and resummon after the timer expires (also by holding T).

Bonus: Quickly heal your pet by storing and retrieving it at the stable master (you have one free slot).

Accept All Quests

The sheer number of quests can be overwhelming, but most are non-repeatable and straightforward "kill X" tasks. To streamline progress, accept every quest encountered, including those from job boards. Often, multiple quests can be completed simultaneously.

Craft Everything At Least Once

Prioritize crafting necessary items, but utilize spare materials to craft anything available. Initial crafting often unlocks more advanced crafting options. For example, smelting Iron Ore might unlock new Iron Armor recipes.

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies require group efforts. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups, particularly for high-health bosses. Join a guild via in-game chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord server.
