Saber Interactive confirms: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will launch DRM-free! Read on for details on the game's launch and features.
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Skips DRM
No Microtransactions Either
In a recent FAQ, Saber Interactive, the developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, clarified that the game will not utilize any DRM software, including Denuvo, upon its September 9th release.
DRM, or digital rights management, is often employed to combat piracy. However, its impact on game performance has been a source of contention among players. Past examples, like Capcom's use of Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, have demonstrated potential negative consequences, including Steam Deck incompatibility and mod limitations.
While foregoing DRM, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat on PC. Easy Anti-Cheat has faced scrutiny previously, notably in relation to an Apex Legends hacking incident.
Currently, there are no plans for official mod support. Despite this, the game offers a compelling package including PvP arena, horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode. Saber Interactive assures players that all core gameplay content is free, with microtransactions and DLC limited to cosmetic items only.
