Stellar Blade PC Release Shatters Sony's Steam Launch Records

by Joseph Jun 20,2025

The PC version of Stellar Blade only launched yesterday, June 11, but it's already made waves as Sony’s biggest single-player Steam launch to date.

Currently, the game has nearly reached 105,000 concurrent players—and that’s just the seventh-highest peak so far while this article was being written. With numbers trending upward and the weekend ahead, it's likely those peaks will keep rising.

For context, other major Sony titles like Ghost of Tsushima (77,154 players), God of War (73,529 players), and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered (66,436 players) have impressive stats, but Stellar Blade surpasses them all in its early days. The only Sony-published title with a higher player count is Helldivers 2, which naturally benefits from its multiplayer focus.

Play On PC, *Stellar Blade* offers enhanced features including **AI upscaling support** via **Nvidia DLSS 4** and **AMD FSR 3**, an **unlocked framerate**, Japanese and Chinese voiceovers, **ultrawide display compatibility**, improved environment textures, and full **DualSense controller support** for immersive haptic feedback and adaptive trigger effects.

Initially limited to over 100 regions, the PC release is now available in more than 250 regions worldwide—making it far more accessible. Additionally, the modding community has already taken off, with dozens of user-created mods appearing since the demo launched a few weeks ago. Be warned: not all of these mods are safe for work!

Thanks to the success of Stellar Blade, developer Shift Up has confirmed plans for a sequel. Originally released in April 2024, the game received positive reception for its fast-paced combat and stylish visuals. Players praised its gameplay loop, often comparing it favorably to titles like NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

IGN’s review awarded Stellar Blade a 7/10, noting: "Stellar Blade is great in all of the most important ways for an action game, but dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating elements of its RPG mechanics prevent it from soaring along with the best of the genre."
