Rummy 500, sometimes called Persian Rummy, Pinochle Rummy, 500 Rum, or 500 Rummy, is a well-loved card game similar to straight Rummy but with a unique twist: players can pick up more than just the top card from the discard pile.
Following the most common Rummy 500 rules, players earn points for melded cards and lose points for any remaining deadwood cards in their hand when another player goes out.
Game Rules:
• The game supports 2–4 players.
• It uses a single deck including jokers.
• Each player starts with 7 cards.
• The goal is to be the first to reach 500 points.
• Even if multiple players hit the target, only the highest scorer wins.
• Create sets and sequences to score points. Sets are 3 or 4 cards of the same rank, and sequences are 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit. Scoring is based on the value of the cards in valid sets and sequences.
• Each turn involves drawing a card to begin and discarding one to end.
• You also have the option to lay down a new meld or build on an existing meld from any player, which is known as building.
• Jokers act as wild cards and can substitute any card in a set or sequence.
• You may pick up multiple cards from the discard pile, but you must use the last one you pick.
• If you take cards from the discard pile, they must be used right away in a meld, or the move is invalid.
• Face cards are worth 10 points, aces count as 11 in a meld but 15 as penalty points if held, and jokers take the value of the card they replace plus 15 penalty points.
• The game consists of multiple rounds.
• Points accumulate round by round. The first player to meet or exceed the target score wins.
• The game concludes when the target is reached. A tie leads to a playoff round where the winner takes the pot.
