by Mia May 26,2025

Paramount Pictures has recently announced significant changes to its movie release schedule, affecting the eagerly awaited Nickelodeon films, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Both movies will now premiere several months later than initially planned.

According to Variety, the release of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender has been pushed back from January 30, 2026, to October 9, 2026. This marks a delay of nearly nine months and represents the second delay for this film, which was originally scheduled for October 10, 2025. No specific reason for the delay has been provided, but it's confirmed that voice actors Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam will continue to be part of the project. The movie will explore a story centered on the original Avatar protagonist, set many years after the conclusion of the beloved Nickelodeon series. It was officially titled at last month's CinemaCon and is the first in a planned trilogy set in the Avatar universe.

Similarly, the sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which was announced just before the first film's premiere in 2023, has also been delayed. Originally set for October 9, 2026, the film will now hit theaters on September 17, 2027, extending fans' wait by nearly a year. This delay adds anticipation to see how the story following Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo will unfold, particularly in relation to the tantalizing mid-credits scene from the first movie. While plot and cast details remain undisclosed, fans can enjoy the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series in the meantime.
