Avowed Targets 60FPS on Xbox Series X

by David Apr 21,2025

Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated role-playing game, Avowed, is set to deliver a smooth 60 frames per second experience on the Xbox Series X. Game director Carrie Patel revealed to MinnMax that players can achieve up to 60fps on Microsoft's flagship console, although the Xbox Series S will be capped at 30fps, as previously announced.

It remains uncertain whether Avowed will feature the now-common performance and graphics modes. Typically, performance mode prioritizes 60fps with reduced visual fidelity, while graphics mode offers enhanced visuals at 30fps. It's unclear if the Xbox Series X version will default to 60fps or if players will have the option to choose between modes.

Scheduled for release on February 13, Avowed comes with a premium price tag of $89.99. However, those opting for the standard $69.99 version will have to wait until February 18, reflecting a recent pricing strategy adopted by some publishers, though already abandoned by companies like Ubisoft.

Set within the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG that heavily emphasizes player choice. The narrative is rich with themes of war, mystery, and intrigue, allowing players to explore the world and develop relationships or rivalries with the characters they encounter.

IGN's Final Preview of Avowed showered the game with praise, highlighting its nuanced conversations, the freedom it grants to players, and concluded that "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
