New Battlefield Features Tested by Thousands of Players

by Riley Apr 23,2025

EA has unveiled an exciting new tool called Battlefield Labs, which serves as an internal closed beta for upcoming games in the iconic Battlefield series. A brief glimpse of gameplay from the pre-alpha version has been shared, giving fans a taste of what's to come.

Within Battlefield Labs, selected participants will have the unique opportunity to test core mechanics and innovative concepts. However, not every feature tested will necessarily make it into the final game. To ensure confidentiality, participants will need to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before they can access these gameplay elements. The testing will include popular modes like Conquest and Breakthrough. Initial testing phases will primarily focus on combat dynamics and the game's renowned destruction system, with subsequent stages dedicated to balance testing.

Pre-registration is now open for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, with EA planning to send out invitations to a few thousand players in the coming weeks. The company aims to gradually expand the testing to more regions as development progresses.

The new Battlefield game has officially entered a "key stage of development," as announced by the creators. While an official release date has yet to be revealed, the project is being collaboratively developed by four distinguished teams: DICE, Motive, Criterion Games, and Ripple Effect. This collaboration promises a robust and engaging experience for fans eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series.
