Choosing Your Faction in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide

by Anthony Apr 14,2025

In the thrilling world of *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll embark on a journey through ancient China, engaging in epic battles alongside renowned warlords. But as you progress, a pivotal moment arrives where you must decide which faction to align with. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the faction selection process in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained

*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* unfolds across multiple chapters, but it's not until Chapter 3 that you, as the Wanderer, are required to pledge allegiance to one of the three key factions: Sun Jian, Cao Cao, or Liu Bei. Before this crucial decision, the first two chapters allow you to interact with all three factions, participating in significant historical events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.

As you enter Chapter 3, the game prompts you that a choice must be made by the end of the chapter. By this stage, you should have a good understanding of each faction, but if you're still unsure, the game offers additional battles to help you make an informed decision.

To proceed, you need to complete specific missions for each faction. To ally with Sun Jian, you must complete three battles; Liu Bei requires two, and Cao Cao needs just one. Once you've fulfilled the mission requirements for a faction, a new mission will unlock, forcing you to choose your allegiance. For instance, if you complete Cao Cao's mission first, you'll only be able to ally with him in the subsequent mission, with other options locked out until you complete their respective missions.

Once you make your choice, the faction you didn't select becomes inaccessible for the rest of the game. This means no more sidequests or bonding opportunities with the officers of the locked-out faction, potentially making your chosen path more challenging. For example, choosing Liu Bei might limit your interactions due to fewer commanding officers, thus reducing opportunities to gain skill points through sidequests.

Each faction offers unique missions, so if you want to experience everything *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, it's wise to create a separate save file before making your decision. This way, you can reload and explore different alliances later on.

And that's how you choose a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, ready for you to dive into the action and make your mark on ancient China.
