Attention, Peaky Blinders enthusiasts – we're returning to the world of the Shelby family. Netflix and the BBC have officially approved a sequel series for a two-season run.
Set in Britain during 1953, the new show has not yet revealed its cast. It will be structured into six hour-long episodes per season. However, one exciting detail has been confirmed: original star Cillian Murphy has joined the project as an executive producer.
The BBC's official synopsis states: "Britain, 1953. Birmingham, heavily damaged in WWII, is rebuilding a better future with concrete and steel. In this new chapter of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the fight for control over Birmingham’s massive reconstruction becomes a fierce, almost mythical struggle. This is a city of immense opportunity and peril—with the Shelby family at its brutal center."
Creator Steven Knight expressed his excitement in a statement: “I'm delighted to announce this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders saga. Once more, the story will be rooted in Birmingham, depicting a city reborn after the devastation of the blitz. A new generation of Shelbys is now in charge, and it's going to be a wild journey.”
Fans of Peaky Blinders have plenty to anticipate, as a film sequel is also scheduled for release next year. Titled The Immortal Man, the movie will continue from where the final season concluded. Murphy will reprise his role in the film, supported by a cast featuring Stephen Graham, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, and Rebecca Ferguson.
Official release dates for the new sequel series and the upcoming film have not been announced. But as we approach the end of the year, further updates are expected soon.
