Hill Troll Location in Rune Slayer
The Hill Troll is concealed in a cave on the side of the mountain in Bahlgar. The most straightforward path to this location starts from the elevator in Lakeshire. Descend to Bahlgar as you would to confront Beastmen, but instead of engaging them, stick close to the mountain wall and continue around it. You'll pass two platinum deposits and should then look towards one side of the mountain to spot the entrance to the Troll cave. To access it, you'll need to jump into this opening, ideally on a mount. It may seem tricky at first, but once you've done it, returning to the cave will become second nature. Check out our gif to see the route in action; we even stumbled upon a group fighting the Troll and joined in to help.

Hill Troll – Strategy, Loot, and Quest
Despite its menacing appearance, the Hill Troll is one of the more manageable mini-bosses in Rune Slayer. You'll likely face it multiple times, so becoming familiar with its attack patterns is crucial.

Avoid soloing the Hill Troll. Its attacks, though predictable and dodgeable, are best countered with a group (at least one additional player). Many players farm the Troll, so finding help shouldn't be difficult. Plus, the Troll respawns every 90 seconds after defeat, allowing for repeated engagements.
The Hill Troll wields a giant pillar, delivering slow but powerful attacks. You can parry and block most of its moves, but when it raises the pillar with both hands overhead, it's time to flee, as this attack stuns. Staggering the Troll is possible with sufficient damage, and if you're a Warrior Class player, a well-timed Counter can stun it.
While the Hill Troll can drop rare equipment, focus on collecting Troll Hides and Troll Heads. Troll Hides are essential for crafting solid endgame gear, which, while not the best, prepares you for tougher challenges like the Mother Spider.

The Troll Head serves as a Quest item for the repeatable Hodor Quest. Hand over a Troll Head to Hodor, located near the cave, every hour for a chance at random, potentially overpowered loot.
Can You Tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer?
No, you cannot tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer, even if you're playing as a Beast Tamer Archer. As a mini-boss, it's too large and unwieldy to serve as a pet. Additionally, we suspect the Troll might be too big to leave its cave. If you're a Beast Tamer Archer, the trusty Mud Crab remains your best companion.
