FromSoftware's acclaimed RPG Elden Ring is making its way to Nintendo Switch 2 as the Tarnished Edition, bringing exciting new features including fresh character classes and alternate appearances for Torrent.
New Classes & Customization Options Revealed
During the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" in Tokyo, developers unveiled two brand-new character classes for the Tarnished Edition:
- Knight of Ides
- Heavy Armored Knight
While details remain scarce, these classes represent two of four new armor sets included in the edition. Players can acquire the remaining two sets through gameplay. Additional weapons and skills were also hinted at.
Enhanced Mount Customization
The beloved spirit steed Torrent receives three new cosmetic options, giving players more ways to personalize their journey through the Lands Between.
Cross-Platform Availability
While these features debut in the Switch 2's Tarnished Edition (which bundles the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion), FromSoftware confirmed they'll be available on other platforms through the affordable Tarnished Pack DLC.
These additions provide fresh starting options for players beginning anew on Switch 2 and extra incentives for veterans exploring the portable version. Elden Ring recently surpassed 30 million global sales, with the Switch 2 release likely to push that number even higher.
The Tarnished Edition and accompanying DLC pack are scheduled for release sometime in 2025, though exact dates remain unannounced.
