Dune: Awakening PvP Exploit Discovered During Open Beta

Dune: Awakening recently concluded its open beta weekend, revealing an exploit that could keep opponents stunned indefinitely. This article delves into the details of this PvP-disrupting glitch and outlines Funcom's strategy to resolve it before the game's launch.

Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit

During the open beta weekend, fans experienced the initial 20-25 hours of Dune: Awakening, along with various features. A critical exploit came to light during the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, where players found a way to indefinitely stun their opponents in PvP combat.

The "stunlock exploit" is triggered when a player continuously uses rapid knife attacks on an enemy with depleted stamina. This leaves the target helpless, unable to defend, use abilities, or escape, trapped in a continuous state of stagger.

The issue gained widespread attention when popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud encountered it during their livestreams of the game.

Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch

During the same Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom developers directly observed the stunlock exploit and promptly responded. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured players that this issue would be resolved before the game's official release.

Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the beta weekend now concluded, the developers have gathered substantial praise and crucial feedback to refine the game ahead of its imminent launch.

Dune: Awakening is slated for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions to follow at a yet-to-be-announced date. For the latest updates on the game, be sure to check out our related article below!
