New Fable Game Faces Development Challenges

Following the announcement that *Fable* has been delayed until 2026, various insider reports have surfaced, painting a grim picture of the game's development. Contrary to the official statement citing the need for additional polish, insiders claim that the game is facing significant challenges.

Insider Extas1s has revealed that Playground Games is grappling with the ForzaTech engine, which was initially designed for racing games and is reportedly ill-suited for an open-world RPG like *Fable*. According to Extas1s, early gameplay iterations were described as "not particularly engaging," leading to substantial reworks of many game mechanics and adjustments to the game's pacing.

Another insider, HeisenbergFX4, echoes these concerns, suggesting that *Fable* is far from complete and might not even meet the 2026 deadline. With Microsoft planning to release *Fable* on PlayStation as well, the game must meet the high expectations of Sony's audience. HeisenbergFX4 points out that after the disappointing reception of *Starfield* and the mixed reviews of *Avowed*, Microsoft cannot risk another failure with *Fable*.
