Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered shuts its electronic doors for iOS

by Andrew Mar 19,2025

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered on iOS is facing closure. This follows unresolved issues with in-game purchases, leaving some players unable to access paid content. While a fix was attempted, it unfortunately resulted in the decision to shut down iOS support.

For players affected, refunds are available for purchases made after January 2024. Information on how to claim these refunds has been released by Crystal Chronicles.

Originally launched on Nintendo GameCube with its unique (though complex) Game Boy Advance multiplayer controller integration, Crystal Chronicles enjoyed a resurgence with its mobile release. However, recent in-app purchase problems have led to this unfortunate outcome for iPhone and iPad users.

Crystal Chronicles has provided details on how to obtain refunds for inaccessible content. While disappointing, this at least ensures players aren't financially impacted by the game's closure on iOS.

The situation ironically highlights the challenges of preserving games, especially on mobile platforms. A title initially hampered by innovative design now faces obsolescence on a newer platform.
