GAMM Is the Biggest Game Museum in Italy Where You Can Share Pieces of Game History

Rome's newest attraction: GAMM, the Game Museum! Now open to the public in Piazza della Repubblica, this expansive museum is the culmination of Marco Accordi Rickards' vision. Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus, is deeply committed to preserving and celebrating video game history. He describes GAMM as an immersive journey blending historical context, technological innovation, and interactive gameplay.

GAMM builds upon the success of Vigamus, another Roman gaming museum that has welcomed over two million visitors since 2012. This new museum boasts 700 square meters across two floors, showcasing three distinct thematic areas.

A Glimpse Inside GAMM:

  • GAMMDOME: An interactive digital playground featuring historical gaming artifacts (consoles, donations, etc.) alongside engaging stations. The experience is built around the 4 E Concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

  • Path of Arcadia (PARC): A nostalgic trip back to the golden age of arcade games, showcasing classics from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a touch of early '90s gaming.

  • Historical Playground (HIP): A deep dive into game mechanics, design principles, and interactive structures. Consider it a behind-the-scenes look at the evolution of gaming.

GAMM is open Monday-Thursday, 9:30 AM - 7:30 PM, and Friday-Saturday, 9:30 AM - 11:30 PM. Tickets are €15. Visit the official GAMM website for more information.
