In India, playing cricket in the narrow alleys, known as gullies, often trumps the experience of playing on a traditional field. Capturing this unique aspect of Indian street culture, an indie studio named 5th Ocean Studios has launched their latest cricket game, Gully Gangs: Street Cricket, into Open Beta on Android.
Not Your Typical Cricket Simulation
Gully Gangs: Street Cricket revolutionizes the cricket gaming genre with its 4v4 multiplayer format set amidst the vibrant Indian gullies. This game marks the debut of a 4v4 street cricket simulation, complete with rooftop catches, scooters as obstacles, and the ever-present nosy uncles scolding you for breaking windows. Adding to the excitement, the game also offers a 1v1 mode for those who prefer a more personal challenge.
Players can engage in power moves and communicate with their team using in-game voice chat, enabling them to talk, taunt opponents, drop emojis during matches, and even employ some cunning tactics. The game's settings are immersed in authentic Indian neighborhood life, featuring live events around you, broken stumps, makeshift pitches, and unpredictable ball bounces off uneven walls.
Customization is a key feature of Gully Gangs: Street Cricket, allowing players to build their gang, dress them in funky outfits, and unlock various skins to personalize their team's look.
Gully Gangs: Street Cricket Now in Open Beta
Currently, 5th Ocean Studios is rolling out a series of updates that promise new street maps, fresh outfits, regular events, clan wars, and an upcoming esports mode. The game will also feature leaderboards, daily and weekly challenges, and intense gang vs. gang matchups.
While Gully Gangs: Street Cricket is exclusively available on Android at the moment, plans are underway to expand to iOS and Steam platforms. Full controller support and cross-platform play are also on the development roadmap. If you're eager to dive into this unique cricket experience, you can download the game from the Google Play Store.
