October Prime Day is the ideal time to expand your new Switch 2 console's storage. Amazon has slashed prices on the popular Lexar Play Pro Micro SDXC Express Cards, which are fully compatible with the upcoming system. Grab a 256GB card for roughly $50, or treat yourself to a spacious 1TB version for $190 and say goodbye to storage anxiety forever.

Crucially, the new Nintendo Switch 2 only supports MicroSD Express cards for storage expansion. As noted by Nintendo, "inserting a MicroSD card that has been previously used on a Nintendo Switch console into a Nintendo Switch 2 console will not allow you to save or load digital games or save data."
We named the Lexar Play Pro the top MicroSD Express choice for the Switch 2. It delivers read speeds up to 900MB/s and write speeds of 600MB/s—up to 10 times faster than standard Micro SD cards and quicker than most SATA SSDs. Plus, it remains backward compatible with traditional MicroSD card readers, allowing use on older devices (though at reduced legacy speeds). Lexar stands out by offering capacities up to 1TB, whereas many competitors cap out at 512GB. Among those providing 1TB options, Lexar currently offers the best value.

Onn 256GB Micro SDXC Express Card

Onn is Walmart's exclusive house brand, meaning you won't find these cards elsewhere. While the prices match their usual rates, stock is typically limited; however, inventory has been replenished during this Prime Week Sale. Although the Onn MicroSD Express card isn't as blazingly fast as the Lexar Play Pro, it performs flawlessly on the Switch 2 with no noticeable impact on gameplay or load times.
If you haven't purchased a Switch 2 yet, now is an excellent time to buy. The console is widely available at retailers like Amazon without needing an invite. Nintendo has recently increased prices on Switch 2 accessories and hinted that the console price may rise soon as well. Read our Nintendo Switch 2 review, where Tom Marks calls it "a vital but unexciting upgrade to a console I already love."
