After a tense few days, Second Dinner's popular card game, Marvel Snap, is once again available to players in the United States. The game had been temporarily taken offline due to the TikTok ban that impacted its publisher, ByteDance. However, Second Dinner was reportedly not informed about the sudden service interruption, which included a stark warning message stating that the app had been "banned".
As Second Dinner works tirelessly to resolve ongoing issues and respond to player grievances, they've made a significant announcement: they are now actively seeking a new publisher. This development marks a major setback for Nuverse, a ByteDance subsidiary, which has been the publisher of this top-performing game since its acclaimed launch in 2022, featuring iconic Marvel heroes in fast-paced card battles.

By now, you may have read my opinion piece on the subject (and if not, where have you been?). In it, I highlighted that ByteDance's decision to abruptly remove both TikTok and many of its gaming titles without sufficient notice to the developers could, and likely would, have negative repercussions.
Second Dinner's frustration is palpable, as evident from the flood of angry player feedback on social media regarding missed log-in rewards and disrupted event gameplay. Their proactive announcement of seeking a new publisher further underscores the discontent behind the scenes.
Securing a new publisher could take months or even years. In the interim, the hope is that there won't be a recurrence of this recent debacle.
