Mortal Kombat 1 added a secret fighter with a reference to a legendary rock band

This week's Mortal Kombat 1 update brought a surprising addition alongside the announced Conan the Barbarian: a pink-clad ninja named Floyd! This isn't a joke; Floyd is a legitimate, albeit secret, fighter.

His design is a clear nod to Pink Floyd, referencing the Dark Side of the Moon album cover's iconic prism effect. Interestingly, Floyd's moveset is a compilation of techniques borrowed from other ninjas, incorporating Sub-Zero's freezing abilities and Scorpion's spear attacks. He even boasts a quirky 1337 health points.

Long-time fans will recognize a parallel to Reptile, the secret character from the original Mortal Kombat who also utilized a moveset drawn from other ninjas. Reptile's inclusion set a precedent for unexpected hidden characters.

Currently, unlocking Floyd remains a mystery. While hints suggest specific challenges must be completed, the exact method remains elusive, and community efforts to definitively uncover the trigger are ongoing.
