Fortunately, your next trip to Sesame Street is just a click away. The iconic children's series, a television staple since 1969, will begin streaming on Netflix and PBS. This follows the conclusion of HBO and Max's long-running licensing agreement with the show at the end of 2024.
New episodes will premiere globally on Netflix, which will also host the show's extensive library of past seasons. In the United States, new installments will air on PBS member stations and the PBS Kids platform on their same broadcast day. As part of this new partnership, Netflix—which is actively expanding its interactive gaming initiatives—also gains the rights to develop video games based on both the main series and its animated spinoff, Sesame Street Mecha Builders.
Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind the series, announced the multi-platform deal on May 19. "The support of Netflix, PBS, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting represents a unique public-private partnership," they stated on social media. "It ensures Sesame Street can continue its mission of helping children everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder."
We are excited to announce that all new Sesame Street episodes are coming to @netflix worldwide along with library episodes, and new episodes will also release the same day on @PBS Stations and @PBSKIDS platforms in the US, preserving a 50+ year relationship.

The upcoming 56th season will introduce a refreshed format. Each episode will center on an 11-minute narrative arc, a structure inspired by popular, character-focused children's programs like Bluey. Fans can also look forward to the return of beloved segments, including Elmo's World and Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck.
Debuting in November 1969, Sesame Street joined the PBS lineup in the 1970s and has remained a cultural touchstone ever since. HBO and Max began their partnership with the series in 2015, securing a $35 million agreement for new episodes.
That collaboration concluded in late 2024 as the streamer shifted its strategic focus away from children's programming, which it reported had lower engagement among subscribers. However, the existing library of Sesame Street episodes will remain available on HBO and Max through 2027—an extension of the original 10-year licensing term, though it no longer includes production of new content.
