Nexon Announces The Global Shutdown Of KartRider: Drift

Nexon announced the global shutdown of KartRider: Drift, the mobile, console, and PC game launched in January 2023. The closure impacts all global platforms, but thankfully, the Asian (Taiwan and South Korea) servers will remain operational, albeit with upcoming updates. Nexon hasn't revealed specifics about these changes or the possibility of a future global relaunch.

Asian Servers Unaffected

The shutdown only applies to the international version of the game. Players in Taiwan and South Korea can continue enjoying KartRider: Drift, although Nexon plans to revamp the Asian versions soon.

Shutdown Timing Unknown

Nexon hasn't specified the exact date of the global shutdown. The game is currently still available on the Google Play Store, allowing players to enjoy it before its closure later this year.

Reasons Behind the Shutdown

Despite efforts to provide a smooth global experience, KartRider: Drift faced significant challenges. Player feedback highlighted frustration with the game's heavy automation, leading to repetitive gameplay. Technical issues, including poor optimization on some Android devices and numerous bugs, further hampered the game's success. These factors prompted Nexon to reassess their strategy, resulting in the global shutdown and a renewed focus on the PC versions in Korea and Taiwan.
