Square Enix recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of the NieR franchise with a special livestream, unveiling a host of exciting updates and events. Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked the 15th anniversary of NieR with a series of announcements, including new projects and events. During the livestream on April 19, they introduced the NieR online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option.
The novel will be released in three parts, with the first part already available. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel follows the story of a 'servant' who encounters a mysterious boy and is led on a mysterious journey.
To complement this announcement, Square Enix launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, which will serve as the hub for the online special novel and other upcoming projects and events related to the anniversary.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is organizing an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. More details on tickets and other information will be shared soon.
Additionally, new dates for the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 have been announced, with performances scheduled in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and in Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are currently available through a lottery system, and more information can be found on the concert's official website.
A variety of new merchandise has also been revealed, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024. Other items include the NieR Weapon Story book, which features over 650 weapon stories from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, as well as scale figures of the series' protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting on April 28, the NieR Re[in]carnation team will launch a developer blog, providing monthly updates throughout the year on the development process of the mobile title. Originally released in January 2021, Re[in]carnation was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges.
The decision to start a developer blog post-shutdown has sparked speculation among fans about potential sequels or remakes, though no official statements have been made on this matter.
The livestream concluded with an over 20-minute live performance featuring soundtracks from the entire NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting announcements and merchandise in the near future, ensuring that the 15th anniversary celebrations continue to delight NieR fans worldwide.
