Nintendo's Switch 2 Games Priced Premium

by Gabriel Mar 31,2026

Nintendo has announced the pricing for upgrading two additional Switch games from the original versions to the Switch 2 Edition: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree — and the cost is notably high.

While upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from their original Switch 1 releases to the Switch 2 Edition costs $9.99 each, NintendoLife discovered that the upgrade fees for both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double that amount.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild includes upgraded graphics and performance, integrated achievements, and compatibility with the new "Zelda Notes" feature in the Nintendo Switch Online app. If you currently own Breath of the Wild on Switch, these enhancements are not included automatically; instead, you can buy an "upgrade pack" for $10 to gain access.

The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new narrative content in its Star-Crossed World expansion. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Party Jamboree features a content suite called Jamboree TV, designed to utilize the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, the built-in Switch 2 microphone, and the optional Switch 2 USB-C camera (sold separately). In addition to boosted resolution up to 1440p in TV mode and smoother frame rates, the upgrade also adds fresh minigames and expanded online features.

Although U.S. pricing has not yet appeared on the American Nintendo eShop — potentially due to uncertainty stemming from President Trump's tariffs — the UK Nintendo eShop lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack at £16.99 / €19.99, over twice the £7.99 / €9.99 fee to upgrade either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.

The Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade is priced the same. This suggests a U.S. price point of $19.99.

The $20 upgrade fee for both titles might be related to the surprising $80 retail price of Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World, and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. The original Switch versions of both games are $20 less, retailing at $59.99 each.

Here are the U.S. prices for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games for customers not upgrading from older versions:

Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99Play

It's worth noting that the upgrade packs for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. Currently, however, no comparable offer exists for players looking to upgrade Kirby and the Forgotten Land or Super Mario Party Jamboree.

Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 opened earlier today, April 24, with the price holding at $449.99 — and availability matched the expected high demand. Separately, Nintendo has alerted U.S. customers who applied for a Switch 2 pre-order through the My Nintendo Store, noting that release date delivery is not guaranteed due to overwhelming interest.
