Charging your Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller will take nearly half the time of its predecessor.
Nintendo Life reports that the newly revealed $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller can reach full charge in approximately three and a half hours when using either the official Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or USB-C cable - a significant improvement over the original's six-hour charging time.
Despite the faster charging capability, the Pro Controller 2 maintains the impressive 40-hour battery life of its predecessor. The upgraded version introduces several new features including a dedicated C button, additional GL/GR buttons on its underside, and a more compact, lightweight design.

For those hesitant to upgrade, rest assured that original controllers remain compatible with the new console.
The Switch 2 made its official debut during this month's 60-minute Nintendo Direct. While pre-orders were initially planned for early April in the U.S., Nintendo postponed them to April 24 due to tariff considerations. The company has maintained the console's $449.99 price point and game pricing, though most accessories including the Pro Controller saw modest price increases from $80 to $85.
