This explosive showdown follows March's Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and April's Godzilla vs. Hulk #1. Like its predecessors, this issue revives a retro story—here, set after 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, as Peter Parker, freshly returned from Battleworld, wrestles with the alien symbiote bonding to him. When Godzilla attacks, his enhanced abilities will be put to the ultimate test.
The issue is written by Joe Kelly, recently announced as the writer for Marvel's relaunched The Amazing Spider-Man series. Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men) provides the artwork, with covers by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.
"The moment I heard about an '80s-set Godzilla and Spidey crossover, I practically jumped at the chance," Kelly tells IGN. "This book lets us go wild while celebrating two icons—capturing both the absurdity and the gravity of their clash. Nick Bradshaw nailed the chaotic energy of that era, paying homage while delivering something spectacular. It’s a tribute wrapped in destruction!"
While DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel underway) spotlights the MonsterVerse versions, Marvel's series embraces the classic Toho Godzilla.
The announcement follows IDW's reveal of Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, an anthology benefiting wildfire relief efforts.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 hits shelves on April 30, 2025.
